A rich, “princely” grave close to the city of Caere in an area where Protovillanovan and Villanovan cemeteries have also been found. In other neighboring localities (Cerqua Petrosa, Costarella della Macchiozza, and Norcino), more Protovillanovan fragments have also been discovered. There is an Archaic sanctuary in the vicinity from the sixth century (the first phase of terracottas that were used there have been dated to 525 to 500) and the whole complex is deliberately located on a Via Sacra, or sacred road, to the port of Pyrgi.
