BRADFORD, John
(1918–1975)
   The pioneering aerial photographer who broke away from the narrow bounds of Oxford history to become a highly distinguished archaeologist even though incapacitated by illness for much of his later life. He was best known in Etruscan terms for his work on the cemeteries of Etruria in his work Ancient Landscapes (1957).
